New Big Brother housemate Andrew is hot on the heels of favourite Josie in the race to win the final series of the show.

The 19-year-old Oxford University student who rates himself 10 out of 10 for intelligence has only been in the house for five days, but has already joined Australian John James as joint second favourite according to bookmakers William Hill.

Country girl Josie is currently leading the race at 7-2, with Andrew and John James currently 4-1. Fellow newcomers Rachel and Keeley have fared less well and are available at 16-1 and 25-1 respectively.

“Traditionally, newcomers in the Big Brother house fare about as well as Katie Price in the music charts, but Andrew has really captivated fans of the show since his arrival in the house and may well end the summer as Big Brother 11 winner and £100,000 richer,” said William Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Super-academic Andrew passed his maths A-Level at the tender age of 13. A keen Black Jack player, he lives with his mum on a council estate when he’s not at university and says he’d choose money over fame.
