Sunshine Martin has become the third person to get the boot from the Big Brother 2010 house, after losing out in an all-girl eviction battle.

The 24-year-old medical student scored 42 per cent of the public vote ahead of fellow nominees Caoimhe and Shabby.

It was the second time both Sunshine and Shabby had faced eviction after both were nominated in the first week.

However Caoimhe had been the bookies’ favourite to leave, and Davina McCall revealed afterwards that the vote had been a close one.

Sunshine took the news well, hugging Ben and Mario after the announcement – although fellow nominee Shabby looked less than happy with the result.

And despite having left the house to a largely negative reaction from the crowd, she kept smiling. “I thought it would be worse, so that was all right,” she said during her eviction interview.

Prior to the eviction the audience outside were treated to a 90-second stand-up comedy routine from Ben, who stood on the steps of the house delivering material as part of the task to celebrate International Joke Day.

He received a warm reception for his jokes before disappearing back into the house – upon which time Davina informed the audience that he had passed the challenge.
