Troubled former Corrie star Bruce Jones is among the latest people tipped to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house later this week.

According to the Mirror Bruce, who played Les Battersby in the soap before being axed in 2007,will join Abs Breen from boyband 5ive – recently seen on The Big Reunion – and TOWIE’s Mario Falcone when the series kicks off on Thursday night.

The 60-year-old, who was dropped from Corrie after drunkenly revealing forthcoming storylines to an undercover reporter, has struggled with alcohol and depression.

He previously lost two homes in Cheshire and Wales due to spiralling debts and openly admitted that he attempted suicide in 2010 by grabbing the wheel of the car while his wife was driving it.

“I decided I’d drink my depression away – I wanted to die,” said the actor, who now combines acting with a job as a mechanic.

Bruce had previously been rumoured for Celebrity Big Brother last year alongside former co-star Wendi Peters, who played his screen wife Cilla Battersby-Brown.

Others tipped to be taking part in the forthcoming series include Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, football pundit Ron Atkinson, OutKast rapper Big Boi and model Sophie Anderton.

The show will begin at 9pm on August 22, with a second live launch show – featuring a promised twist – to follow the next night.
