Brian Dowling has been crowned Ultimate Housemate in the final of Ultimate Big Brother – the swansong for the Channel 4 show. But the last night ever in the Big Brother house proved to be a busy one….
No less than seven Ultimate housemates were competing for the grand prize in the final – and first out of the house was Ulrika Jonsson in seventh place
The TV presenter – a former Celebrity Big Brother winner – said she went into the house again to “enjoy” the experience
Pop star Preston – who was reunited with his ex-wife Chantelle in the house – finished sixth
In his eviction interview he described Chantelle as a “flipping great girl”
Among the highlights of the evening was a moving tribute to the late Jade Goody, which prompted tears from Davina
The former Big Brother 3 star died of cervical cancer in 2009
‘Nasty’ Nick Bateman was next out of the house, finishing in fifth place
He said he was grateful for the chance to do the show in order to try and shake off his ‘nasty’ image
Victor Ebuwa – one of the most memorable housemates from Big Brother 5 – came fourth
He revealed that he was glad to be in the final, having never been to a Big Brother final before!
That left the race for the title between Chantelle, Nikki and Brian – and Chantelle finished third
She had a difficult eviction interview, facing tricky questions about Preston – but ultimately admitted they weren’t going to be getting back together
All of which meant it was between Brian and Nikki for the title of Ultimate Housemate…..
…..and it was Brian who was voted winner! He could barely believe it, although Nikki was delighted for him
She also left the house to a rapturous reception
And she thanked Big Brother for everything in her eviction interview
However the night ultimately belonged to Brian Dowling – aka Big Brother’s Ultimate Housemate
The former air steward turned TV presenter said he had never even considered the possibility of winning the final
And with the final over, it was time to bid an emotional farewell to Big Brother once and for all – with a tribute to Davina, a live band, fireworks and former housemates all around. That’s your lot, folks…..
