This week’s episode of Heroes, The Eclipse Part Two, has really divided critics of the show… Robert Canning at IGN.com reckons ‘from the looks of things, the writers have countless hats hanging by very loose threads’, but Stephen Lackey at mania.com thinks the show is ‘on the road to recovery’…
So what did our TV Spy duo Ben and Gareth make of it? Time to find out… (as always, you can watch the boys in glorious high definition on the tvspy youtube site!)
Here’s the latest cast shot for season five of Lost. Do you like how they’ve managed to combine the twin ideas of half the cast being in the big city and other half on a tropical island? There’s still no sign of Jin or Claire, though curiously Charlotte’s still there despite reports that she’s no longer a series regular. And if you look carefully, you’ll be able to see a few Dharma supplies scattered around the gang. What do you suppose that means? Are the Dharma Initiative really going to be back on the island when the series returns?
As promised, here’s the second of this week’s two issues - we recommend getting your wintery mitts on this one quicksmart, because we just finished the bumper Christmas double issue and that’ll be arriving hot on the heels of the lovely Girls Aloud early next week.
As always, the mag is packed full of all the latest top TV, including our weekly focus on the best US dramas, plus tons of films and sport, and 70 essential pages of listings.
Courtesy of Doc Artz, this mockumentary about the Oceanic Six sets the scene for the fifth season of Lost perfectly. Combining clips of the O6 with interviews from Oceanic Airways staff and analysis from ‘experts’, this film is pretty interesting and is a great pastiche of shoddy TV documentaries…
10pm, Grey’s Anatomy, Living
Oh, Meredith - will you ever figure out what you want from your never-ending on-again-off-again relationship with McDreamy? Well, we’re 12 episodes into the fourth season now and the signs aren’t good. Six weeks after the events of our previous visit to Seattle Grace, Meredith is stunned to overhear Rose confessing to Derek that she loves him… uh-oh. Guest stars this week include Cheech Marin - recently seen as Hurley’s dad in Lost - and Clea DuVall of The Faculty and Heroes fame.
9pm, Life, ITV3
Crews and Reese deal with a possible series of hate crimes tonight as they investigate the murder of two Iranian-Americans and the kidnapping of a third. Elsewhere, Earley becomes concerned about Crews when the latter decides to build a solar farm after the idea came to him as he slept. How very Field of Dreams.
11.05pm, The Closer, More4
Brenda and the team look into the murder of a tour operator who was found dead on one of her company’s buses. The dead woman’s final job was to escort a group of Chinese diplomats - did the assignment have anything to do with her death? Fritz, meanwhile, has to entertain Brenda’s mum and dad - the former played by Frances Sternhagen, who was also Charlotte’s nightmare mother-in-law in Sex and the City.
Take a look at this clip from series five of Lost… It’s just as well Kate’s got plenty of experience going on the run. Looks like she’s going to need it…

Kelly Preston, aka Mrs John Travolta, guest-stars in this week’s episode as Joe’s business partner Meghan. Allison doesn’t feel right about the pair’s relationship, but that’s the least of her worries when a new car that Joe gives her turns out to be connected to a horrific, unsolved crime…

A double bill of Quahog capers for all you Family Guy fans tonight. Following at 9.30 is ‘Brian the Bachelor’, when the martini-swilling mutt falls for a contestant on a dating show - and Chris’ acne medication causes him to deviate from his usual placid path.
The status of the Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica has finally been revealed – and it’s getting a full series! We told you about the feature-length pilot months ago, and it was supposed to have been shown on the US Sci-Fi channel and Sky1 over here by now. There had been talk that new Sci-Fi series Warehouse 13 had put Caprica on the back-burner, and even speculation the pilot would never see the light of day.
Thankfully, a full-run of Caprica has now been confirmed. Until we get more details, here’s that awesome trailer again…

We have to admit we were a bit skeptical at first but, actually, this looks like it might turn out to be quite a coup for CSI… Laurence Fishburne makes his debut as William Petersen’s putative replacement, Dr Raymond Langston, in an episode airing in the States in December. UK viewers will have to wait until March.
9pm, CSI: Miami, Five
When Horatio and his crew of impossibly glamorous CSIs try to figure out how a woman’s body ended up in a secret tunnel, their investigations lead them to businessman Charles Brighton (John Schneider, best known for The Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville) - whose wayward daughter soon takes a shine to Delko. Romance could be in the air - unless it’s frowned upon to date the offspring of a suspect…
10pm, Prison Break, Sky1
Predictably, Michael and Lincoln’s troubles are not over - much as they would love to have thought so in last week’s episode. Our favourite former jailbirds have now been framed for Trishanne’s murder by the double-crossing Don Self, who then makes matters worse by taking Gretchen’s sister and daughter hostage. He thinks this will encourage Gretchen to help him find a buyer for Scylla, but is kidnapping her relatives really going to endear him to the raven-haired one?
10pm, Smallville, E4
When Chloe and Jimmy go missing after their engagement party, it turns out that they’ve been snatched by a deranged kidnapper who has decided to make sure that they’re really meant for each other. The corpses of another couple in the kidnapper’s lair seem to indicate that not all of his victims pass his test - can Clark and Lois find their friends before it’s too late?

More trials and tribulations for our sassy heroines this week, with love-life complications for Victory and work woes for Wendy and Nico. While Victory’s relationship with new man Rodrigo (played by Puerto Rican singer/actor Carlos Ponce) is going well - aside from some interference by Joe - Wendy’s John Lennon biopic project has hit a slight snag: the death of its leading man.
9pm, Sanctuary, ITV4
Will steps in to help former colleague Detective Cavanaugh unravel the circumstances surrounding an apparent suicide this week. Key to the investigation may be the dead man’s autistic son who can draw incredible pictures from memory - but all he keeps drawing are terrifying monsters. Elsewhere, Henry (Stargate Atlantis‘ Ryan Robbins) is worried by the increasing frequency of his transformations.
