She might have millions in the bank - but that hasn't stopped Susan Boyle from seeking gainful employment in her home town.
According to the Sun On Sunday the former Britain's Got Talent star - who shot to global fame after appearing on the 2009 series - recently applied for a minimum wage job at Ladbrokes in Blackburn, Lothian.
Deputy manager David Corr told the paper that Susan had come in to the store to enquire about the cashier's position earlier this week.
"Susan Boyle walked in to the shop and asked about the job advertised in our window," he said. "We were all in shock."
A source added: "She explained she was really keen on working there and she lives nearby. Obviously she doesn’t need the money so I think she saw it as a way of getting her out of her house and taking her mind off things."
Susan recently revealed that she had been diagnosed as having Aspergers Syndrome after years of thinking she had been brain damaged at birth.
"I always knew it was an unfair label," she told the Observer. "Now I have a clearer understanding of what’s wrong and I feel relieved and a bit more relaxed about myself."
