X Factor And King Cowell Still Reign As Nation's Favourites On TV

An online survey run by BT Vision with What's On TV has found the nation's favourite reality TV programme is still The X Factor. Almost a third of respondents said the talent show, now in its seventh season, was their favourite. The show beat time-slot rival Strictly Come Dancing - which garnered only 8 per cent of the vote.

One of the major draws of the hugely popular singing show may be the straight-talking Simon Cowell, who was voted by respondents as the TV star most people would like to go on a date with. He fought off stiff competition from former Doctor Who David Tennant.

The survey, commissioned by BT Vision, looked into viewing habits and trends and showed up some surprising results. For instance, more than half of us think that the nation will start watching more news and documentaries in the next few years.

The BT Vision survey revealed that 81 per cent of the population spend each evening in front of the telly, watching 3-4 hours a night. It also appears that the nation's love life is suffering at the hands of the box, with 33 per cent of Brits preferring to relax on their own watching their favourite TV shows, compared with only 25 per cent who said they would prefer to spend a romantic evening with their partner.

BT Vision is digital TV on demand.
