Chelsea has had a busy week!

Last week was a busy one for Casualty star Chelsea Halfpenny, who plays Doctor Alicia Munroe. First she helped to collect Casualty’s BAFTA for best Soap and Continuing Drama, with co-star George Rainsford.

The following day she was off to film ITV’s NHS Heroes Awards (tonight on ITV at 8.30pm)  at London’s Hilton at Park Lane with Casualty colleagues Cathy Shipton, Michael Stevenson, Charlotte Salt and Michelle Fox.

Here we had a quick catch-up with the hard-working star as she returned to filming Casualty in Cardiff…

What’s On TV: You’ve had a busy week…

Chelsea Halfpenny: “Yes, it’s been very busy but it’s been great.”

WOTV: Has it been a bit surreal?

CH: “Yes, it’s been a bit mad. It’s been a great couple of days getting to do all the glamourous things. I’m definitely back into scrubs and reality now. “

Casualty wins BAFTA… and George Rainsford looks rather stunned!

We’ve won!

WOTV: How chuffed are you to have won the BAFTA?

CH: “The BAFTA win was a huge surprise but then also [filming] the NHS Awards the day after was amazing in a completely different way. It reminds us why we do this job I think. It also makes us feel a bit silly, because we just pretend!”

WOTV: Tell us more about presenting an award at ITV’s NHS Heroes…

CH: “Hearing the real life stories was just surreal and amazing. We met a couple of the people who it happened to and it’s really difficult to put that person who’s stood in front of you with the trauma of the event that had happened because they’re stood there smiling and it’s hard to believe they’ve been through something like that.”

The NHS Heroes Awards is on ITV tonight at 8.30pm, hosted by Paul O’Grady.
