When the police release Cal’s killer without charge, Casualty doctor Ethan Hardy takes matters into his own hands…

It’s been shock after shock for Casualty doctor Ethan Hardy recently. First his brother Cal Knight was stabbed to death outside the ED. Ethan was then horrified to discover he was the intended victim of killer Scott Ellisson and Cal died trying to save him.

What’s on TV can reveal there are even more shocks to come in this weekend’s Casualty…

Ethan Justice

Ethan takes matters into his own hands and attacks Scott

Ethan thinks Scott Ellisson (Will Austin) is safely in custody, but when police reveal they don’t have enough evidence to charge Ellisson, Ethan decides to take the law into his own hands…

“Ethan’s really affected with guilt and anger when Scott’s released without charge for Cal’s murder,” explained George Rainsford, who plays the normally mild-mannered medic. “Ethan’s a very moral person and he trusted the system. He believed that once the police had Cal’s answer-phone message revealing Scott was after Ethan justice would be done. But apparently it’s not enough. It shows Scott had motive, but it is not actual evidence of the crime being committed.”

It’s another shocking blow for Ethan and couldn’t have come at a worse time. He’s already understandably emotionally charged after clearing out his beloved brother’s locker at work. So, in a twist of classic Casualty fate which sees Ethan treating Scott’s injured brother, Mickey, in the ED, the grieving medic spots an immoral opportunity and takes it… Ethan demands that Scott confesses to killing Cal or he’ll withhold information that could save Mickey’s life!

Ethan Justice

When fighting fails, Ethan turns to blackmail… Mickey’s life for a confession!

“Ethan tries to get Scott to admit to Cal’s murder, but Scott’s completely in denial!” revealed George. “Ethan’s moral compass is normally really strong, but he’s totally distraught that Cal died protecting him from Scott. Out of love for Cal he wants justice!”
