The final series of Celebrity Big Brother has gotten underway as eleven famous faces entered the house on Sunday night.
And despite the speculation over who would be going into the house there were few surprises on the night, with most of the housemates turning out to be those who were tipped in the press to be taking part.
First to enter the house was Hollywood actor Stephen Baldwin, best known for his role in the 90s thriller The Usual Suspects.
The born-again Christian star told Davina McCall that his faith would help him survive life in the house.
“I’m really only prepared to be able to have this experience by faith. Hell is a very real place,” he said, “a lot of people don’t realise that, but I plan on being a representation of the light of truth. So that’s the fun I’m going to have.”
Next in was Page 3 model Nicola Tappenden, aka Nicola T – and she was followed by one of the more controversial arrivals of the evening, Katie Price’s on-off boyfriend Alex Reid.
The cage fighter, who the house to a resounding chorus of boos from the crowd, denied reports that he had been involved in a fight with fellow housemate Dane Bowers, who arrived in the house later on.
“Categorically no, I wasn’t even aware there was a fight until afterwards,” he said.
Reid added that he was hoping to change people’s perception of him during his time in the house. “I’m here to change all these boos,” he said.
Fourth into the house was veteran actress Stephanie Beacham, who admitted, “I have no idea how I am going to survive in there.”
The latter, best known for the hit Thong Song, gave an impromptu performance of the track before entering the house.
Dane Bowers followed next, and he was also quick to deny rumours of a bust-up with Reid.
“I’m sorry to disappoint you but we actually get on OK. What you read about isn’t true I’m afraid,” the former Another Level singer told Davina.
The next two housemates were Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss, Swedish DJ Jonas Altberg – better known as Basshunter. “I’m gonna touch base and I’m gonna do some hunting,” the latter said of his plans for his time in the house.
The final pair to enter were model Katia Ivanova, best known as the former girlfriend of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood – and footballer turned Hollywood star Vinnie Jones.
And the eleven had barely had a chance to settle in when Big Brother set them their first challenge, in which they had to all squeeze into a Mini parked in the garden.
Despite dire warnings that any housemate who failed would regret it, the eleven all managed to fit into the car.
The series will last for 27 days, with proceeds from phone votes going to Comic Relief.
