Boxing Day
Jim'll Fix It with Shane Richie
BBC1, 5.40pm, Boxing Day
It was the show that made dreams come true from 1975 to 1994, as Sir Jimmy Savile fixed it for thousands of kids to meet their popstar heroes, try life as a suitcase, or eat their packed lunch on a rollercoaster. And following the iconic presenter's death last month, the Beeb has decided to bring Jim'll Fix It back for a one-off festive special, with EastEnders' Shane Richie taking on hosting duties. A new generation of kids get their wishes fixed and a badge from Shane! What's not to love?
The Borrowers
BBC1, 7.30pm, Boxing Day
Perfect family drama, as Mary Norton's wonderful children's adventure story about the tiny people living beneath the floorboards of a big house, and making creative use of discarded everyday items, is lovingly updated for modern audiences. Rising star Aisling Loftus plays young Borrower, Arrietty Clock, whose protective parents Pod (Christopher Eccleston) and Homily (Sharon Horgan) have so far been reluctant to let her out into the big wide world. However, the whole family is forced to go on an epic journey when 'Human Bean' Granny Driver (Victoria Wood) and scientist Professor Mildeye (Stephen Fry) discover their hiding place. A classic tale brilliantly reimagined - and a real highlight of the Christmas schedule...
