Christmas Eve
The Cube Christmas Special
ITV1, 6.30pm, Christmas Eve
Presenter Phillip Schofield will be in a right old lather tonight with this soap special, which sees Coronation Street stars Ryan Thomas (Jason) and Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley) dare to take on the Cube. As always, most challenges look easy-peasy when you're sitting at home, but with the pressure of being under the glare of spotlights in a confined space, the Weatherfield wonders have their work cut out if they're to win money for their chosen charities. Who'll go back to cobbles with their head held high? And, more importantly, will either of them be the person to finally beat the Cube?!
Text Santa
ITV1, 7.30pm, Christmas Eve
Ant and Dec will be asking viewers to give generously on Christmas Eve, in the grand finale of ITV's charity fundraiser to help bring some festive cheer to the UK's most vulnerable people. The three-hour extravaganza will feature a whole host of famous faces encouraging people to text donations to Text Santa's chosen UK charities including The Samaritans and Crisis. Helping Ant and Dec in their call for cash will be Take Me Out's Paddy McGuinness, who will be seeing how many pantos he can appear in, while the cast of The Only Way Is Essex will be performing their version of Wham's Last Christmas live on the night. Ant says: "Your donations will give these people a cracking Christmas and a much happier New Year!'
Outnumbered Christmas Special
BBC1, 9.20pm, Christmas Eve
It's Christmas Day and this year Santa seems to have delivered long-suffering parents Pete and Sue an extra large sack of madness and mayhem! Fed up with festivities at home, for some strange reason Pete and Sue think it will be less stressful if they, along with children Karen, Ben and Jake, instead head off to sunnier climes. They've obviously never tried travelling over the festive season, let alone with demanding kids in tow! Anyway... as usual, fate is working overtime against them with one mishap and delay after another. Will they make it to the airport on time and with relationships intact?
Lapland
BBC1, 10pm, Christmas Eve
Sue Johnston plays Eileen, the mother of the chaotic Lewis clan in this rumbustious comedy. A large close-knit family from Birkenhead, they save all year round to make Christmas as special as possible. This year is different - they've decided to go to Lapland on a package tour to see Father Christmas Finnish-style, complete with huskies, reindeers and maybe the magical Northern Lights. But they discover Lapland brings more than they bargained for. Sue says: 'Lapland won't know what's hit it when the Lewis family arrive. It's a hopeful, bittersweet comedy and I'm delighted to be a part of it.' Co-stars Julie Graham and William Ash (Waterloo Road).
