The Chasers aka ‘The Governess’, ‘The Beast’, ‘The Vixen’ and ‘The Dark Destroyer’ have been voted the winners of BBC 1's Let's Sing And Dance For Comic Relief.

The Comic Relief fund-raising continued tonight (Saturday) as Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan and Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ from ITV quizshow The Chase were voted the winners of BBC 1’s Let’s Sing And Dance For Comic Relief.

The normally no-nonsense foursome impressed judges Jason Manford, Katy Brand, Rufus Hound and viewers with their colourful Wizard Of Oz medley.

“Your performance had courage, it had brains and it had heart,” said Rufus. “It was absolutely charming.”

Audience favourites Rickie & Melvin surprisingly didn’t steal the show with their Will Smith medley. And Sara Pascoe, The ONE Show reporters and presenter Alison Hammond were also out of the running. But cast members from Casualty and Holby City finished in 2nd place with their performance of Uptown Funk.

At times this Saturday night series was a bit like bad celebrity karaoke – BUT the important thing is viewing voting has helped raise a load of money for Comic Relief adding to this year’s amazing figure of £71 million…and counting. Plus, we’re always happy to see Mel & Sue on the tellybox!

There’s still time to donate to Comic Relief. As tonight’s moving reports from Reggie Yates in Kenya and Russell Howard in Liberia show, all proceeds will be well spent, helping people in the UK and some of the poorest communities around the world.
