Coronation Street stars Jack P Shepherd and Wanda Opalinska have both become parents for the first time.
Jack – best known for playing bad boy David Platt in the ITV1 soap – celebrated the birth of a baby girl on Friday while Wanda, who plays factory worker Wiki Dankowska, gave birth to a baby boy on Thursday.
But the news is rather bittersweet – it comes just a day after their co-star Kym Marsh announced the death of her son, who was born 18 weeks premature.
Kym, 32, who plays barmaid Michelle Connor, gave birth to Archie Jay Lomas on Wednesday, but he died moments later.
In a statement, Kym said: “Archie is our beautiful angel and we will miss him so much. Thank you all for your support.”
The former Hear’Say singer had been working on the programme during her pregnancy and was due to take maternity leave in the summer.
Both Wanda’s son Rafal, who weighed in at 7lb 5oz, and Jack’s as yet unnamed daughter, are said to be doing well.
A spokeswoman for the show said: “Everyone at Coronation Street wishes them all well.”
On Wednesday, fellow co-star Alison King – who plays trouble-maker Carla Connor – gave birth to a baby girl.
