Coronation Street is set to lose another Weatherfield resident as the Rovers Return pub is burnt to the ground.
Landlady Stella Price, who is played by Michelle Collins, is one of those stranded by the blazing fire, which is set to kill off barmaid Sunita Alahan, following the real-life exit of actress Shobna Gulati from the ITV soap.
A message on the Coronation Street website teased that Sunita will not be the only casualty from the inferno: “You may have read reports that the Rovers fire will claim lives. We can now exclusively reveal more than one person could die in the blaze at the Rovers.
“Will landlady Stella fall victim to the fire? Could it be barmaid Tina? Fireman Paul? Bad guy Karl? Sunita? Gloria? Eva? Toyboy Jason? No one is safe from the killer flames.”
The scenes were filmed over three consecutive nights in the early hours with real firefighters around for extra precautions.
“Just got home after major night shoot. Could never be a night worker! Actors, crew and firemen were all amazing, had some amazing stunts. Great night on the cobbles! So exciting and dramatic. Corrie fans will love it,” tweeted Michelle.
Shobna added: “End of another night #RoversFire #corrie great stuff cast and crew and special fx and guests.”
The Rovers Return will be rebuilt following the fire, with an extra bedroom.
Tony Prescott, who was also in charge of the tram crash for the soap’s 50th anniversary in 2010, has directed the episodes, which will be screened in March.
