Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan has confirmed rumours that her character will be killed off in the soap and promised it would be an exciting exit.
Michelle, who plays Tina McIntyre in the ITV series, appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show at the weekend and talked about her leaving storyline, but according to The Sun her comments were edited out.
The actress has been in the show for six years and is due to leave in May, when Tina is believed to be killed off.
She said: “They’ve come up with a really good storyline that involves a lot of characters on the Street. It’s going to be a big story next year. So, in a way, it’s an honour and I’m very excited for it.”
When Jonathan asked if Tina might be murdered, Michelle replied: “Yes. I think the viewers might know.”
Talking about moving on from Corrie, which she has starred in since 2007, she said: “For me it’s scary and exciting at the same time. I’ve been in Corrie for six years and it’s my first-ever acting role. If I don’t leave now and try other things, I never will.”
It’s believed that the characters who will be in the frame for Tina’s murder are Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), Dennis Tanner (Philip Lowrie), Carla Connor (Alison King), Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
