Sean Ward was originally only due to appear in just eight episodes of Corrie last year, as Kylie’s drug dealing ex-lover, Callum. But at this year’s British Soap Awards, he’s in the running for Best Newcomer and Villain Of The Year.

“Even being nominated is huge. I can’t believe it!” says Sean.

As an added bonus, it was Sean’s birthday on the night of his first-ever British Soap Awards, which took place in Manchester on Saturday.

We caught up with Sean on the red carpet to get the lowdown on the return of Kylie (played by Paula Lane), working with his ‘phenomenal’ co-star, Jack P Shepherd and whether viewers have been giving him grief for being such an on-screen rascal…

“It’s Team Callum or Team David,” reveals Sean. “They either want me to leave Max alone or slap David Platt around the face! I thought I would have more aggro. There’s been no old ladies hitting me on the back of my head with their handbags!”

Watch The British Soap Awards on Thursday 21st May on ITV at 8pm. Find out if Sean won at the British Soap Awards here
