Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has said that her alter-ego Fiz Stape will continue to fight for Tyrone Dobbs’ love.
The pair went on the run with Tyrone’s baby daughter Ruby, away from the clutches of the baby’s mother Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede) – who has put out a public appeal for the child’s safe return, until Fiz decides to call the police.
“It’s a complicated love triangle. Fiz wants him to be happy but they can’t be happy in this situation so her only alternative is to shop him to the police, but she does it because she loves him. She did it for the best,” the actress told the soap’s official website.
Her actions may have distanced Tyrone (Alan Halsall), who will face the police, but Jennie admitted that Fiz will try to save him from prison and from Kirsty.
“Fiz is one of the only people along with Tommy, Tina and maybe Kevin who believes in Tyrone. Everybody else believes Kirsty’s lies because she is so good at it,” explained the actress.
“But Tyrone is facing a prison sentence because he’s in a lot of trouble in the eyes of the law and everybody else on Coronation Street. Fiz is really distraught when Tyrone says he doesn’t want anything else to do with her – she wants him and all his baggage.”
She teased that there will now be a full-on war between the love rivals: “It’s Kirsty and Fiz, round two. There is absolutely no way Fiz will stand by and let this happen. Kirsty ain’t going down without a fight. No way.”
