Kevin Kennedy has had a diverse career since leaving Coronation Street in 2003, but the actor says he wouldn’t rule out a return to Weatherfield.

Kevin, who played Curly Watts on the soap, revealed he would consider reprising the role if the right storyline came along.

“I never say never. I still chat to the producers about other things and that’s still a possibility. But we have to wait until the right time and the right story comes along,” he said.

Kevin, 46, has gone on to star on stage as the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and next month will begin a stint on upcoming reality TV musical The eXtra Factor, alongside Kavanagh and Anthony Costa.

But the actor admitted that he will always be remembered as the hapless, but loveable Curly. “That sort of thing never leaves you and I’m very proud. I never want to deny it or get away from it, I enjoy it,” he said. “If I didn’t have that kind of back catalogue then I wouldn’t be where I am now.”

Kevin added that by treading the boards, he hoped he’d get more Curly fans into the cinema.

He said: “It will get people into the theatre, and once we’ve got them then they’re ours for the evening.”
