Michael le Vell’s return to Coronation Street is set to be punctuated by a love triangle storyline described as ‘explosive’.

According to the Sunday Mirror the actor – who is back on the soap after being found not guilty of child sex offences earlier this year – will face some dramatic scenes as his character Kevin Webster becomes caught between Sally and her new beau Tim.

And executive producer Stuart Blackburn told the paper that things weren’t going to be easy for Kevin – who viewers were told was caring for his sick father in Germany.

“At the point when Kevin was forced to leave for Germany, he was actually looking to get back together with Sally,” Stuart explained.

“So when he returns, it’s to a very different world. He comes back to find Sally’s relationship with Tim, while his daughter Sophie’s world will have changed as well.

He added: “We’re just delighted to have Michael back with us, and we’re hoping he’ll be back on screen in March/April.”

Kevin has been involved in similarly complicated Corrie plots before, having previously had an affair with Tyrone Dobbs’ late wife Molly.

She later became pregnant with a son who turned out to be Kevin’s.
