Coronation Street’s Michelle Keegan has denied reports that she has broken off her engagement to The Wanted singer Max George.
The Mirror reported on Saturday that Michelle – who plays barmaid Tina McIntyre in the soap – had shelved plans for their nuptials following a tense festive holiday in Barbados and a series of rows, while further speculation was fuelled after the actress was seen on Thursday without her engagement ring.
However a spokesman for Michelle told Mail Online that the pair were still ‘very much a couple’, and were still engaged – but had not yet organised their wedding.
‘The date had never been set,” the spokesman added.
A source close to the couple told the Mirror the pair had had a difficult few months, fuelled by work schedules which have seen Max on tour with The Wanted and Michelle often filming for six days a week.
“They are not rushing and are taking as much time as necessary to plan the wedding,” said a spokesman for the singer.
“Both Max, who is touring, and Michelle have hectic work schedules making it almost impossible to pin down a date. The wedding is on hold.”
Michelle herself also responded to the claims, re-tweeting a post by a fan on her Twitter page, which described the reports as ‘hilarious’ and added, “They’ve always said they weren’t marrying this year!”
The pair have been dating since December 2010 when they met backstage at a concert in Manchester.
