We reckon we haven't seen the last of Phelan's daughter...

Coronation Street star Nicola Thorp has thanked fans and the cast as her character waved goodbye to Weatherfield last night.

Nicola Rubinstein, Eileen and baby Zack headed off to Bristol. We know Eileen will be back soon, although it’s unclear whether Nicola will return to Corrie. We have a sneaking suspicion she will!

The popular actress posted a warm message to fans, saying: “Thanks to the cast and crew and everyone at Coronation Street for making the cobbles feel like home this past year. I’m lucky to call you my friends.

“Thanks to the audience and fans for all the love and support. From this Nicola (and the other one) see you later, Weatherfield.”

Could the “see you later, Weatherfield” line imply she might one day return? Her character is alive, which is a good start (!), having survived the evil reign of her dad, Phelan.

Earlier this week Nicola clashed with Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain over “red carpet sexism.” And when she popped up on This Morning they got her mixed up with Shona actress Julia Goulding!

Nicola, who previously appeared in Doctors and Doctor Who before joining Corrie last year, told us in one of her first interviews when she joined the soap that it was a “mental” feeling being in the show.

“Two months ago, I was watching it with my family, shouting at Phelan. We have a saying in our house – “Sit down and shut up; it’s on!” And then I got the call to say ‘You’re in, playing his daughter!’”

Coronation Street continues on ITV.
