Coronation Street star Sean Ward says he and co-star Lucy Fallon are ‘buzzing’ to become a part of Corrie history when they film the live episode on Wednesday, September 23.

The special hour-long live episode is part of the celebration of 60 years of ITV and Sean told What’s on TV: “As newcomers, for us, we’re just really excited to be part of the live ep which was probably commissioned before we even joined the show. So for us we’re just buzzing to be part of history.”

Sean’s character Callum will be a central part of the live episode, which is expected to feature the climax of Callum’s feud with the Platts, the result of his custody battle over his son, Max, who’s living now with his mother Kylie and David Platt.

Callum’s violence and evil demeanour have terrified his son.

Sean said: “That’s when Callum realises he’s losing his grip on certain things… He’s got so many people at that point that he’s annoying, he’s opened the net on certain people on the Street, including Jason and Tony and Audrey, who are icons of the show in a way. It all becomes too much when Max turns on him as well… At this point, it can go two ways, but he still uses Max as a pawn to save his back.”

With his back to the wall and no allies and under pressure to pay off his drug supplier, things are about to escalate in Callum Logan’s desperate world.
