*CSI: Miami screens on Tuesday nights on Five*Five kicks off the new ninth season of CBS's fast-paced forensic drama set in the southernmost US metropolis. In the first of 22 episodes we pick up where season eight left off, with Horatio racing back to the CSI lab after receiving a tip-off note from suspected serial killer Bob Starling. He arrives to find his team out cold on the floor - they've been gassed! Though most start to recover, one of his team is not going to get up... Acclaimed in 2006 as the most popular TV show in the world, CSI: Miami follows Lieutenant Horatio Caine (played by NYPD Blue's David Caruso) and his team of investigators as they use cutting-edge forensics to solve the nastiest crimes amid the steamy, tropical surroundings of Miami-Dade County, Florida. Caine's team includes Calleigh Duquesne, a no-nonsense bilingual beauty, nick-named'Bullet Girl'for her specialisation in ballistics and firearms. Calleigh learned from her legal eagle father that protecting justice was the highest call of all and that a woman can do everything a man can. Eric Delko is the team's underwater recovery specialist, with detailed knowledge of the Florida waterways. He's also the team's fingerprint and drug identification expert. CSI trainee Natalia Boa Vista is a DNA analyst who escaped an abusive marriage, but was only fully free when her ex-husband was murdered. A graduate in chemistry, Ryan Wolfe is now able to utilise his scientific background in his police work. His attention to detail borders on obsessive compulsive - something Caine appreciates. Finally, there's Horatio Caine himself, the head of the Miami-Dade crime lab and a former NYPD homicide detective, forensic analyst and bomb-squad officer. Affectionately referred to as'H'and very protective of his team, Caine rarely makes eye contact, preferring to sport his trademark sunglasses.
