Cricketer Dominic Cork has become the latest casualty of Dancing on Ice 2011, following a skate off in which the contestants had to choose who to save.

It was the second week running that Dominic had found himself in the skate-off, although he narrowly missed out on elimination on last Sunday’s show when the judges chose instead to send Steven Arnold home.

However this week his luck ran out as he found himself face to face with Jeff Brazier in the skate-off – and facing the Ice Pick twist in which the contestants, rather than the judges, had to choose who to save.

Jeff ultimately received six votes from the others, while Dominic and his skating partner Alexandra Schauman scored just three.

The others admitted that they found the task a tricky one. Chloe Madeley, who was the first to vote, told them, “We love you both and we hate doing this.” Vanilla Ice took a more strategic approach, flipping a coin to decide where his vote went.

However Dominic did not take the decision personally.

“It doesn’t matter what votes you cast, I loved every bit of it, even the judges,” he said.

And he was also full of praise for his skating partner. “One of the reasons I have loved it is because of Alexandra,” he admitted. “I hope she’s back next year because whoever gets her is very lucky.”

Earlier in the show Dominic had fallen foul of Jason Gardiner following his 60s themed routine, with the judge saying, “The thing I like about your performance is when it’s over,” to a chorus of boos from the crowd.

The show’s front-runners, including Sam Attwater, Laura Hamilton and Chloe Madeley all sailed through to next week, while ‘Comedy’ Dave Vitty and Denise Welch also made it through thanks to their popularity with the public, after the judges placed them at the bottom of the scoreboard.

Next weekend’s show will see the couples having to perform special skating moves for the first time this series.
