Kerry Katona, Jeff Brazier and Vanilla Ice make up the first eight contestants competiting for a place in the Dancing on Ice final 12.

In a new format for the ITV1 show, 16 contestants have prepared to take part, but only 12 will make it to the actual competition stage.

The first two episodes of the new series will show eight contestants perform with the bottom three ending in a skate-off before the two with the lowest public votes being axed.

The first eight battling it out for a place in the final are Kerry Katona, rapper Vanilla Ice, Jeff Brazier, actress Nadia Swahala, former Coronation Street actor Stephen Arnold, ex-newsreader Angela Rippon, children’s TV presenter Laura Hamilton and Victoria Cross hero Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry (the only one to be competing from outside the worlds of sport and showbiz).

These celebrities will hit the ice for the first time when the series begins this Sunday – 9 January.

The remaining eight will perform the following week on 16 January. They include cricketer Dominic Cork, BBC Radio 1’s David Vitty – better known as Chris Moyles’ sidekick Comedy Dave, Chloe Madeley, daughter of Richard and Judy, Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe, former EastEnders star Sam Attwater, ex-Corrie actress Denise Welch, and Elen Rivas, ex-girlfriend of Chelsea footballer Frank Lampard.

Returning to the show is Spice Girl Emma Bunton and choreographer Jason Gardener who will remain on the judging panel along with former skater Robin Cousins who is head judge.

The voting panel will comprise of only three judges instead of the usual four after a decision was made not to replace former judge Nicky Slater, who announced he was leaving the show last month.
