Children’s TV presenter Sam Nixon has become the latest casualty of Dancing On Ice, after losing out on Sunday night’s rock-theme show.

The 25-year-old – whose presenting partner Mark Rhodes was voted out earlier in the series – was sent packing after he came up against Chico, one of the current favourites, in the skate-off.

And despite his best efforts to impress the judges in the skate-off, the verdict was unanimous.

“This is a very difficult one,” Louie Spence said, “but Chico you added that touch of finesse, I’m going with you.”

Robin Cousins added that Chico “stepped up that little bit more,” while Katarina Witt concluded, “You both nailed it and both couples went out there like they had nothing to lose – but I’m going to save Chico.”

Afterwards Sam said, “This experience has been absolutely awesome, what a privilege to be taught how to skate by Torvill and Dean and the coaches Karen, Mark and Rob.”

He also described his skating partner Alexandra Schauman as “absolutely awesome”.

Earlier in the show Sam had picked up his highest score of the series so far – 22 out of 30 – for his routine to The Killers’ hit Human.

“You have such a lovely way about you when you dance,” Louie told him, while Katarina added, “I liked how you were smiling and performing…it is such an enjoyment to watch.”

Five other celebrities, including favourites Jorgie Porter and Matthew Wolfenden, made it straight through to next week on the public vote, as well as Chemmy Allcott, Jennifer Ellison and Andy Whyment.

Next Sunday’s show will see the remaining celebrities skate in teams in a bid to double their points from the judges, as well as performing with their skating partners.
