Alex Kingston will return to Doctor Who when the sixth series of the revitalised BBC1 sci-fi hit starts next spring.
Her fearless character, the archaeologist River Song, will hook up with the Doctor for the season’s opening two-parter set in 1960s America and currently being filmed in Utah in the United States, according to Doctor Who Magazine.
The explosive adventure sees the Doctor and friends summoned back to the Swinging Sixties. They’ll be scurrying around the desert in Utah, but also end up in the Oval Office of the White House. It’s occupant is President Richard Nixon.
The speculation about River Song is that she may have somehow been involved in the assassination of President John F Kennedy, although Doctor Who’s executive producer Steven Moffat has yet to confirm the rumour.
It’s already known that she’s serving time in the future for ‘killing a hero’. Moffat has however confirmed that we’ll find out exactly who River Song is during the forthcoming series.
Could she be the Doctor’s wife, as many fans suspect?
