All The Small Things

This new six-part drama series from Debbie Horsfield, the writer of Cutting It and True Dare Kiss, is set in a small North of England town and centres on feisty mum-of-three Esther Caddick (Sarah Lancashire).

Esther sings in the local choir, conducted by her husband Michael (Neil Pearson), and is devoted to her family. But shortly after the Caddicks celebrate their 20th anniversary, the marriage is rocked by the arrival of long-legged, blonde Layla (Sarah Alexander). A natural soprano, the newcomer sweeps Michael off his feet and he leaves Esther - consequently causing disharmony (geddit?) among the community choir and the Caddicks.

The three Caddick children - worldly-wise Georgia, easily-led Fred and mildly autistic but gifted Kyle (Richard Fleeshman) - all react very differently to their parent's separation. When Esther discovers Fred helped the local kids to bully his big-brother, Kyle, she decides to put together a temporary choir to help troubled but talented Kyle express himself and be accepted by his peers.

Esther and her guitar-wielding, ragtag band enter the local music festival and find themselves going to head-to-head with Michael and the increasingly deranged Layla. As the weeks go by, Michael, influenced by Layla, becomes increasingly competitive and begins to cull the lesser members of his choir.

Esther is persuaded by her singing buddies to start her own choral group, made up of everyone that her heartless hubby has ruthlessly ejected. And while this further estranges her from Michael, it's not all bad as young, cute curate, Jake, is on hand to help her with her musical mission!

All The Small Things is light-hearted entertainment centred on community, personal relationships and catchy tunes that'll have viewers tapping their feet for days.
