Casualty star 'glad to see back of green outfit'

Casualty actress Sophia di Martino has admitted she has no regrets about hanging up her green uniform for the last time as she leaves the show.

The star, who has played paramedic Polly Emmerson in the BBC1 medical drama for two years, said that she was glad to take off her character's costume for the last time after she filmed her final scenes.

"Taking that uniform off was quite a moment," Sophia said. "I am sick of wearing that green outfit every day."

However the 27-year-old confessed that she could not resist taking some of Polly's more eccentric outfits home as a souvenir.

"I took this skirt that I chose for Polly which has fried eggs, bacon and sausages on it!" she said.

"I won't wear it, it's just in the wardrobe because she always wore really wacky clothes when she wasn't in her uniform."

The actress's exit storyline begins on Saturday's episode of the show and concludes next weekend - and although she is keeping the details of her departure secret she promised that it would be "dramatic" and would be linked to her friendship with bus crash victim Hannah.

"She's drawn to broken vulnerable people, like Alistair," Sophia explained. "She goes above and beyond what she's supposed to do, but as she's an untrained paramedic, she's playing with fire."
