When nurse Linda (Christine Tremarco) stops a young girl from stealing food from the hospital coffee shop, she's shocked to realise it's her niece, Britney. Britney's mum is Linda's drug addict sister, Denise, who is in the ED having treatment for a cut arm - an injury she sustained fighting a social worker who'd tried to take her two children, Britney and Joe, into care! Now Denise is on the run from the police...
Lloyd's insistence on helping disorientated patient Maeve inadvertently puts her in greater danger! When Maeve turns up in the ED with broken ribs and no memory of who she is, Lloyd pushes the team to do all that they can to uncover her identity. But as Lloyd pieces the clues together, he uncovers a complicated family situation... Maeve's husband, Patrick, is abusive and she left him weeks before losing her memory. Lloyd tricks Patrick into returning to the ED with Maeve and the wife beater is arrested.
Elsewhere, Denise has handed herself into the police, and Linda is left to look after her niece and nephew...
