Bill Nighy is to appear in a new episode of Doctor Who written by Notting Hill director Richard Curtis.
The 60-year-old actor - who has worked with the director on Love Actually and The Boat That Rocked - will play an eccentric curator of an exhibition of Van Gogh paintings, The Sun reports.
The episode, which will be set in the present day and 19th century France, also features Scotsman Tony Curran - who starred as gay plumber in This Life - as impressionist artist Van Gogh.
Other guest stars in the news series of Doctor Who - which features Matt Smith taking over from David Tennant as the Timelord - include Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo, One Foot In The Grave's Annette Crosbie, ER's Alex Kingston and comedian Meera Syal.
