Billie Piper has given birth to a son by emergency Caesarean, her husband has revealed.
Laurence Fox told reporters outside the Portland Hospital in London that they have named the baby Winston James Fox. He said he weighed 6lb 11oz and was born at 1am.
A tired-looking Laurence said of his newborn son: "He is beautiful, he is sweet."
When asked about Billie's labour, he said she was in labour for 26 hours before coming to the hospital in the early hours of this morning.
He said: "The emergency caesarean only took about 20 minutes. Billie is happy, of course she is, she's a mum. I am tired but not as tired as her - I am a proud father. Mum is doing really well, no complications. Healthy, brilliant."
When asked how long his wife was expected to remain in hospital, he said: "Well, she has been cut apart, so probably overnight. I will be with her for the length of it."
The 26-year-old Doctor Who star and former pop singer married her actor husband in December.
Wearing jeans and a grey jumper, Laurence was earlier seen smoking a cigar outside the hospital.
Billie's ex-husband Chris Evans was among the first non-family members to visit the newborn. The Radio 2 DJ, who parked his black Ferrari outside the hospital during his 10-minute visit, said mother and baby were 'fantastic'.
He added: "Mum is very happy and I am really pleased. There are some tears of joy up there."
