Doctor Who to make Children In Need debut

A sneak preview of this year's Doctor Who Christmas special will be screened during the BBC's Children In Need telethon next month.

The BBC News website reports that viewers will have the chance to see the opening two minutes of The Next Doctor, which will see David Tennant returning in the title role alongside actor David Morrissey.

The clip will be shown on BBC One on Friday November 14.

The Doctor Who Christmas Special - which is normally shown on Christmas Day - has become one of the highlights of the BBC's festive schedule in recent years.

Last year's edition - which was set aboard the Titanic and featured Kylie Minogue as guest star - attracted 13.3m viewers, second only in the ratings to the EastEnders Christmas Day episode.

Details of guest stars for this year's special as well as further plot teasers are likely to be revealed in the run-up to the festive season.
