Ronnie Corbett to star in Doctor Who spin-off

Legendary funnyman Ronnie Corbett will make a guest appearance in a special Red Nose Day version of the Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Ronnie - who made fame as one half of The Two Ronnies with Ronnie Barker - will star in the one-off mini adventure which will be shown as part of the Comic Relief: Funny for Money event on BBC1 on Friday March 13.

The BAFTA-nominated series, which stars Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, has a huge following in its teatime slot on BBC1 and the CBBC channel and the BBC Wales team are excited to be contributing to Red Nose Day.

The series sees Sarah Jane and the gang getting caught in a mysterious world of chases, danger, and monsters from outer space.

Executive Producer Russell T Davies said: "It's an honour to get involved with Red Nose Day, and with Ronnie Corbett, K-9 and an old enemy's return, we can promise Sarah Jane Smith's most extraordinary adventure yet!"

The third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures will go into production shortly.

Current Doctor Who lead David Tennant will present part of the Comic Relief: Funny for Money event.
