The Curse of the Black Spot
Saturday, 07 May 2011 18:15 BBC1

The Doc, Amy and Rory are in deep bother when they find themselves on a 17th century pirate ship. Captain Avery (played by Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville) takes them prisoner and - obviously! - makes the Doc walk the plank.
But, thanks to some swift moves from Amy, they escape only for the captain to reveal that they're all in danger from a mysterious sea creature (model Lily Cole). The pirates have numerous superstitious explanations for the Siren's appearance, but the Doctor has other ideas. If you suffer a single cut, you're doomed and a black mark appears on you - hence the episode title, The Curse of the Black Spot!
Eventually Captain Avery comes on board with the Doctor. They discover there's a second ship. It's a spaceship and Captain Avery's entire crew are onboard! Rory is there being kept alive. The Siren turns out actually not to be a killer, she's a doctor. On the TARDIS Amy gives Rory the kiss of life and saves her husband. The Doc, Amy and Rory then fly off into the distance.
