Bill legend Trudie signs up for Heartbeat

Trudie Goodwin will make her post-Bill comeback on Heartbeat later this summer.

The 55-year-old actress, who played legendary Sergeant June Ackroyd for 23 years on The Bill until her departure in March, has signed up to play a medium called Rosa in a special episode of the Sunday night drama.

Scenes for the episode are already in the can, and June admits that it was a relief not to have to clamber back into uniform for the new role:

“Thankfully my outfit was quite glam,” she says. “There wasn’t a police uniform in sight!” The episode will be screened on ITV1 later this year.

Heartbeat is Trudie's first new show since The Bill
