Lucy struggles after Robert's death

Following the tragic death of her friend and colleague Pc Robert Clifton, Pc Lucy Slater is struggling to cope. Meanwhile, a young man, Pradip Das, has been beaten unconscious in an unprovoked attack, and DI John Keenan and DS Luke French set out to try and find the gang of youths responsible.

When a local teenager, Trey Gabriel, is arrested for joy-riding in the vicinity of Pradip's assault, it's obvious that he's either a witness - or a suspect. And when footage of the brutal attack is found on Trey's mobile, it becomes clear that Pradip is a victim of 'happy slapping'.

Youth worker Sean Burrows accompanies Trey in the investigation. After running a project for disadvantaged kids, Sean is on good terms with CID and wants Trey to cooperate with the police - but Trey's having none of it! Angry, Sean returns home and vents his fury at his teenage son...

Also, after a tough day, Lucy decides to hand her notice in, leaving her job for ever.
