Holby City is about to lose a doctor, as Amanda Mealing β who plays consultant Connie Beauchamp β is leaving the BBC hospital drama later this year after six years.
Amanda, 43, confirmed her exit on Twitter, saying: "I've said too much already but yes, this will be my last year in Holby. Let's enjoy it while we can."
Belinda Campbell, Holby City's Executive Producer, said: "Amanda has been an invaluable asset to the Holby City team and will be thoroughly missed. She created an iconic character and Connie will not be forgotten.
"Connie will have a dramatic but heart-warming departure which will tie into the dramatic entrance of an exciting new regular character."
The actress survived breast cancer after being diagnosed with the illness following the birth of her second son.
Details on Amanda's departure date will be confirmed later this year.
