SPOILER: Holby City star Hugh Quarshie says his character, Ric Griffin, may be forced to confront his self-destructive attitude in an upcoming cancer storyline.

Head of surgery Ric is about to learn he has inoperable cancer.

Hugh told whatsontv.co.uk: "It's asymptomatic - you don't know you've got it until it's spread... It's so far gone, what's the point in having chemotherapy?"

Hugh revealed that the diagnosis forces Ric to learn to have faith and to 'allow people to try and help him'.
