Holby City star Patsy Kensit is to leave the BBC1 drama after four years, according to the papers.

The 42-year-old - who plays ward sister Faye Byrne in the show - told The Sun she plans to quit in September.

"I have had a fantastic time playing Faye but I felt it was the right time to move on," Patsy told the paper.

"I will really miss the cast and crew, but not the long hours! It has been lots of fun but very hard work.

"Although it can be a tough schedule at Elstree Studios, I will be very sorry to say goodbye to the fantastic team there."

The move will allow her to spend more time with her sons Lennon and James as well as her fourth husband Jeremy Healy, following reports in the tabloids that the pair, who wed last year were going through a rocky patch.

A spokesman for the actress told the paper, "They are experiencing difficulties and are trying to work things out."

Patsy is believed to have other acting projects lined up as well as writing her autobiography.

Her final scenes on the show are likely to be seen at the end of the year.
