Hotel Babylon goes under the hammer

Hotel Babylon goes under the hammer

Producers of Hotel Babylon plan to auction off the contents of the entire set - though this does not mean the BBC drama is being axed.

Carnival Film & Television Ltd will be hosting the one-off auction Aston Clinton, Bucks, on Saturday August 29.

All items to be auctioned have been exclusively used to decorate the set of the glossy hotel drama, starring ex-EastEnders star Nigel Harman and former Emmerdale actress Amy Nuttall.

Items from the hotel's bedrooms, bathrooms, restaurant, lounge and bar areas will be up for auction alongside an array of small and large props, plus items from the costume department.

For those looking for something a little more extravagant, a pink crystal chandelier - purchased from new at around £6,000 - and a grand piano are also available.

The auction will take place in the hotel's lobby, as seen on TV, there are no reserve prices and everything must go!

But show bosses insist that the auction does not mean that Hotel Babylon will be closing its doors.

Christopher Aird, executive producer, Carnival Film and Television, said: "No decision has been made on a fifth series of Hotel Babylon.

"We are simply clearing out some of the set so, if we do come back, we'll be giving the show a bit of a revamp."

Sale items can be viewed between 9am and 6pm on Friday August 28, and from 9am on Saturday August 29, with the sale commencing at 10am on that day.

Those wishing to attend should call Tring Market Auctions on 01442 826 446 or email sales@tringmarketauctions.co.uk.
