Tamzin to star in edgy new ITV crime thriller

Tamzin Outhwaite is set to star in a new drama, The Fixer, for ITV1.

Created by Kudos, the producers of Spooks, Hustle and Life On Mars, the new six-part thriller also features Peter Mullan, Andrew Buchan, Jody Lee Latham (Shameless) and Liz White (Life on Mars).

The story centres on John Mercer (Andrew Buchan), an ex-Special Forces man serving a double life sentence, who is released from prison unexpectedly early.

He is introduced to Kenny Jameson (Peter Mullan), a police officer retired on grounds of 'ill health', who is pulling together an unofficial operation with a single brief - the removal of untouchable criminals from society.

Mercer must use the skills he gained in Special Forces to carry out a series of discreet hits. To help him, he has a team of new colleagues which include petty thief Calum McKenzie (Jody Lee Latham) and the sharp-tongued but seductive Rose (Tamzin Outhwaite).

The Fixer is created and written by Ben Richards (Party Animals, Spooks, No Angels) and Neil Cross (Spooks) and directed by Alrick Riley (Hotel Babylon, Hustle).

Director of drama Laura Mackie says: "The Fixer is crime drama like you've never seen it before.

"With Mercer and his team operating at the very edges of the law, this is a thriller which will ask our audiences tough questions about justice and what happens when the long arm of the law isn't quite long enough."

Tamzin's left the hotel industry and turned to crime
