As series two ended, Peter KIngdom's hometown of Market Shipborough was being flooded by a violent storm and Peter was searching for his brother, Simon.
As the new series begins, the town has recovered from the flood and the gentle and gracious Peter (Stephen Fry) is more at ease with himself knowing his brother is at peace. But work will provide new challenges. Peter's young colleague Lyle Anderson (Karl Davies) is now fully qualified and keen to prove himself.
