Beatrice embarks on a new venture

How is a single mother to afford school fees? Well, if you're as entrepreneurial as Beatrice Kingdom, you run a business from home. In her case, it's a sex line and she doesn't care who hears her come-on chat. Except, that is, one particular client – Petra's father. When Beatrice recognises his voice on her phone she's furious. The father of her baby should not be behaving like that. She's kept his identity a secret but, now, she decides to name him and shame him.

Another single mother struggling with raising a daughter is scientist Nicky (guest star Jaye Griffiths). She works in a medical research lab and her outraged offspring, Donna, is constantly trying to sabotage her career by liberating the animals used for experiments.

Donna doesn't hesitate to break the law, which is how Peter Kingdom becomes involved. And he discovers what makes Nicky so devoted to her research: she's trying to save her daughter from the rare genetic disorder that killed her husband. Donna, though, knows nothing of this...

Lyle Anderson has no problems with parents, just with a group of nuns who are being forced out of their convent. He takes on the developer and gets the nuns rehoused temporarily in the local pub, the Startled Duck – which turns out to be a more successful relocation than anyone could have imagined!
