War breaks out in Peter's Kingdom
Sunday, 07 June 2009 21:00 ITV1

As series three of this popular drama begins, Market Shipborough has recovered from the flood – and local solicitor Peter Kingdom has kept his head above water during the emotional storm caused by his brother, Simon.
Now Peter faces new challenges alongside Lyle Anderson, his young colleague, who's finally a fully qualified solicitor. And their separate cases in the series opener, involving the British military, actually turn out to be linked.
It's only Lyle, though, who's nearly trampled by the mounted regiment of the Blues and Royals when he's out jogging. So, he relishes the opportunity to take on these soldier boys when a beautiful woman called Kate (guest star Sophie Winkleman) tells him she wants to file a complaint of sex discrimination against the regiment.
Kate's not being entirely honest with Lyle, though… The justice she's after is not for herself. But how, exactly, is her case linked to Peter's client, a soldier back from Iraq with crippling injuries and very little by way of compensation from the MoD?
Caught up in her own private war with her demanding father (guest star Peter Sallis) is Gloria Millington, Peter's legal secretary. Dad's a lock-keeper – a lonely one. So, does he hold a canal boat hostage for company? A desperate Gloria calls on Peter to help her negotiate the emotional minefield that is her relationship with her dad.
