Mackenzie Crook lined up for Merlin 2
 

Mackenzie Crook will have a guest spot in the second series of Merlin.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean and The Office star appears in the first episode as Cedric, a creepy character who is determined to muscle in on Merlin's position as Arthur's right-hand man.

The mythical family drama is returning to BBC in the autumn after attracting audiences of more than 6.3 million during its first run.

Colin Morgan returns as the titular hero Merlin and John Hurt reprises his role as the voice of the Great Dragon.

Mistresses star Sarah Parish also has a guest part, playing a disgusting troll masquerading as the beautiful Lady Catrina.

Adrian Lester and Charles Dance will also appear during the TV series, and the BBC promises more guest turns will be announced.
