Richard Wilson: My problem with spells (VIDEO)
17/09/2008 - 17:08

Richard Wilson says he has renewed respect for Doctor Who's David Tennant after struggling with the archaic dialogue in new BBC1 fantasy series Merlin.
The former One Foot in the Grave star plays Court physician Gaius in the series which premieres on BBC1 on Saturday, September 20.
Richard told whatsontv.co.uk: "There are times I have to say a spell in Old English and I do find it very, very difficult. It takes 10 times longer to learn a phrase in Old English than it does a normal one. I admire David Tennant for the way he can just spit it out.
"I also admire people in the early days of ER especially - the medical terminology is just so brilliantly handled... Merlin, or Colin, is very good at spells, so I let him do most of them."
