George Cole angry over Minder snub

Minder star George Cole is said to be furious about being snubbed for Five's remake of the cult eighties show.

George - who played the original wheeler-dealer Arthur Daley - has had no input into Five's new series, which stars Shane Richie as Archie Daley, nephew of dodgy 'Arfur'.

Lex Shrapnel plays Archie's minder Jamie - Dennis Waterman played Arthur's bodyguard Terry in the original series.

But the 83-year-old actor slammed producers for being 'wheeler-dealers like Arthur' by trying to get both him and Dennis to promote the show for free.

George told The Sun: "I'm really not happy. Audiences remember Minder as me and Dennis, but neither of us has been given any input."

He added: "They had the cheek to ask both of us to help them promote it though They didn't offer either of us any money and we’re not appearing in it, so we both gave them a resounding 'no'.

"They were being wheeler-dealers like Arthur Daley."

Minder premieres on Wednesday February 4 at 9pm on Five.
