Alyson's secret anguish

Sally's week starts promisingly when she discovers a naked Steven in her shower. Natasha has temporarily invited him to stay while he works through a rocky patch with Alyson. Steven doesn't realise Alyson is distracted with looking after her dying father and dealing with bad publicity generated by Roger in a live TV interview.

Alyson brings in her old PA - and ex-boyfriend - Dan to help with damage limitation, which further fuels Steven's jealousy and drives him closer to Sally. After a night on the town they have a drunken romantic moment, until Alyson phones. Meanwhile, Roger takes the trainee graduates out on the town on the company credit card. When he leaves a strip club without paying the bill two of the candidates end up spending the night in a cell and threaten to go to the papers.

It's the perfect opportunity for Alyson to get rid of the company head but when she gets the devastating news her father has died she shows Roger compassion and manages to save both his job and his reputation. Alyson and Steven become closer after the death of her father when he witnesses a completely different side to her.

Elsewhere, Max makes Vince fire safety officer to take his mind off not getting the marketing assistant position. It works - until there's an actual fire and Vince overreacts somewhat!

And, in anticipation of Max's birthday, Natasha holds a competition to guess his age. He claims to be 38 but Christine reveals he's actually 40!
